Monsanto opens new warehouse
Written by Dave Harrison
Nov. 3, 2011, Leamington, Ont. — Monsanto opened a new office and warehouse facility in Leamington to help serve the needs of its De Ruiter greenhouse growers in Canada.

“One of our largest single customer bases is Leamington, so the location was ideal to help us better connect with our customers,” notes Harry Beukelman, De Ruiter brand business lead. “It is our goal to deliver the very best products and the best technical support to our growers.”

De Ruiter varieties will continue to be sold primarily through its local dealer network. The Leamington office and warehouse facility will import from Monsanto’s facility in the Netherlands and stock inventory to supply orders throughout Canada with a quick turnaround time.

Since incoming seed shipments can sometimes encounter delays in transport or customs, having a seed supply within Canada or the United States is crucial to respond quickly the needs of Canadian growers.

“The new office provides local growers a place to meet with our De Ruiter technical team to obtain product information and tech support,” says Jenny Burko, office manager at the new Leamington facility. “Our De Ruiter tech team is based here and will be available to answer questions about our varieties or rootstock products.”

The warehouse will support greenhouse growers throughout Canada. De Ruiter Seeds supplies varieties in key protected culture segments, including tomato, pepper, cucumber, eggplant and rootstock. The majority of De Ruiter protected culture tomato varieties are now Good Seed and Plant Practices (GSPP) certified and will be labelled with the GSPP logo.
