CanWest Hort Show celebrating 30 years

Sept. 19, 2011, Vancouver — This year marks the 30th anniversary of the CanWest Hort Show, being held Sept. 28-29 at the Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC West).

The educational component includes a number of pre-show  clinics, and along with two days of seminars during the show. Among seminar topics are:

Twenty Questions: The Plant Diagnostics Edition, with Jim Chatfield of Ohio State University.

• Question Based Selling: A Consultative Selling Approach for Winning and Keeping Customers in the Value Era, with Greg Campeau of Campeau Learning & Development.

Biologicals & Botanicals: Responding to the Pest Ban with Natural Alternatives, with Dr. Michael Brownbridge of the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre.

There will also be a new Plants & Sustainable Products Showcase, along with a Container Competition, the annual meeting of the British Columbia Landscape and Nursery Association, and an industry awards reception.

Also new this year is the Equipment Demo Day to be held Sept. 30, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Tradex Convention & Exhibition Centre in Abbotsford.

Bus tours are scheduled for Sept. 30, including a nursery and botanical tour with stops at UBC Botanical Garden, Phoenix Perennials and Specialty Plants Ltd., East Richmond Nurseries Inc., and VanDusen Botanical Garden.
