New cogen opportunities in Ontario?
Written by TOGA
June 28, 2011 – The Ontario Greenhouse Alliance (TOGA) is hosting a pair of information sessions next month on how greenhouse operators may be able to implement cogeneration systems as a result of changes recently announced to the Combined Heat and Power Standard Offer Program (CHPSOP).

As the application deadline is Aug. 31 on a first-come, first-served basis, growers with an interest are strongly encouraged to attend either of the sessions.

A Leamington session will be held Thursday, July 7, from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers offices at 245 Talbot St. West. The grower host is Guido van het Hof.

A Niagara session will be held Monday, July 11, from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Best Western Beacon Harbourside Inn, 2793 Beacon Boulevard in Jordan. The grower host is Rej Picard.

Each session will include a presentation by Kevin Dick, of the Ontario Power Authority, who explain how the CHPSOP program works. Representatives of energy solution companies are also expected to attend to assist in answering questions.

For more information, contact the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers at 519-326-2604 or 800-265-6926, or Flowers Canada Growers at 519-836-5495 or 800-698-0113.
