May 19, 2011 – Two presentations during the Flower program will look at environmental control, and what you can do to optimize growing conditions in your greenhouse.

Melhem Sawaya of Focus Greenhouse Management is moderator of these sessions.

Speakers will include:
Graeme Murphy Graeme Murphy, greenhouse floriculture IPM specialist with OMAFRA … The pitfalls of biological controls. This talk will clarify many of the challenges and equip you with tools to make the right decisions.
Jim Nau Jim Nau of Ball Horticultural … Perennials for bedding plant growers. Jim will describe how perennials are similar, as well are different, from bedding plants.
Jerry Gorchels Jerry Gorchels of Ball Horticultural … Fillers for mixed containers from seed. There are many types of fillers from seed that will enhance any combination. This talk will help you produce these items and show how best to use them.
Albert Grimm
Albert Grimm, head grower at Jeffery’s Greenhouses (St. Catharines, Ont.)  … Greenhouse environment manipulation. Albert will describe the ideas that work for him. Applying some of these ideas in your operation could lead to a better product at a better cost.
Kurt Parbst Kurt Parbst, president of Svensson’s North and South American subsidiary … Shading systems – benefits and payback. This talk that will help you use your systems more effectively, or help you decide whether a shading system is right for your operation or not.
