Ball Acquires Daniels® plant nutrition brand
Written by Dave Harrison
Sept. 7, 2010, West Chicago, IL – Ball Horticultural Company has acquired the assets and manufacturing facilities of DP Foods LLC and the rights to market the Daniels® brand of plant nutrition. DP Foods manufactures Daniels products, an industry leader in sustainable, organic and cost-effective plant food products for the professional grower, landscaper and home gardener.

“For many years, Ball has been a proud distributor of Daniels plant food, as it has fit perfectly with our company’s strategy to ‘Grow a Green Future’,” says Bill Doeckel, general manager of Ball Innovations, a business unit of Ball Horticultural Company. “Ball’s purchase of DP Foods will solidify our promise to our customers to offer sustainable solutions.”

Daniels products are organically based and contain organic/nutritional compounds, including natural vitamins, minerals, amino acids and proteins, enzymes, phytohormones, and carbohydrates to enrich plant health and fertility. Daniels products include:
• Daniels® 10-4-3 Professional Plant Food.
• Daniels® Ornamental Landscape 10-4-4.
• Daniels Pinnacle® 3-1-1 Organic Professional Greenhouse Nursery Plant Food.
• Daniels® Plant Food Retail Product Line.

“Ball’s commitment to sustainability is perfectly positioned to maintain the sales momentum for Daniels products, and to support Daniels’ initiative as a leader in sustainable crop nutrition,” says Catherine Brooks, who will continue as general manager of Daniels.

Ball will operate DP Foods from the company’s current headquarters and manufacturing plant in Sherman, Texas, and will retain all its present employees.

According to Doeckel, Ball is looking forward to growing new relationships through Daniels, and supporting existing agreements and commitments to the brand’s distributors in the United States and Canada.
