New veg crop substrate
Written by Dave Harrison
3147_sublime_npJune 2010 – Substrate supplier BVB Substrates in De Lier, the Netherlands, is launching BVB Sublime, a new substrate for the international vegetable sector. BVB Sublime is made of Polygrow, a polyurethane foam with a high pore volume. It has been specially formulated for use in horticulture; it is extremely airy, hydrophilic and retains its shape well. During the 2008-09 growing season, yields achieved in research trials were five per cent higher on average with three cucumber crops, and seven per cent higher with a tomato crop.
