Nov. 2009 – Chasmanthium
latifolium ‘River Mist,' judged the best perennial or grass at this
year's Farwest Show, is available from Emerald Coast Growers. A variegated
northern sea oat, it is readily available in 38-cell trays. This exciting new
introduction offers striking green-and-white striped arched foliage. Bringing a
vivid look to any garden, the unique grass makes a great specimen or container
plant at 2-3' tall. Late summer and early fall bring the dangling oats that
provide interest well into the winter. ‘River Mist' does well in shade to full
sun and is hardy in Zones 5-9.
