Aug. 13, 2009 — Ontario flower growers are boosting biocontrol research in the province.
The board of directors of Flowers Canada (Ontario)
recently presented a cheque for $50,000 to help fund thrip and whitefly
research at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre (VRIC). This is
the first installment of a commitment made by floriculture growers in
Ontario to fund greenhouse biocontrol research at the centre.

The presentation was made in front of the first truck bearing the new Pick Ontario marketing signage. The campaign promotes the Ontario floriculture industry and encourages consumers to buy more Ontario-grown plants.
