Thinking ‘green’ at Canada Blooms
Written by Dave Harrison
March 12, 2009, Toronto — JVK and Myers are co-sponsoring a recycling display at this year’s Canada Blooms. With growing consumer interest in sustainability, “green” themes and recycling, this display will be a central focus for the show, being held March 18-22 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The show generates considerable press coverage. With that exposure comes a great opportunity to promote garden centres that partner with JVK under its recycling program. To accomplish this, and also provide a key source for more "green" information, JVK has launched a comprehensive website at http://www.excitementinmygarden.ca. This allows the company to funnel the attention generated by Canada Blooms to a site where it can expand on the key program messages, and list the names of participating Ontario garden centres.

The website will also include information on a couple of major product lines, including:
• Solenia Begonias, a major focus for JVK on the retail and consumer level. Garden centres who purchase Solenia Begonias from JVK will be listed.
• Sunpatiens. While Sunpatiens are currently available in limited numbers, they are a major new opportunity at the retail and consumer level. Sunpatiens are being promoted to big box retailers for the 2010 spring season as “limited exclusives.”
