Celebrating 30 years of industry service
Written by Canadian Greenhouse Conference
2008-p_mooreOne of North America’s largest greenhouse conferences is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and it’s doing it in style.
The Canadian Greenhouse Conference, being held Oct. 8-9 at the Toronto International Centre, is marking the milestone with a pair of high profile speakers with timely messages for the agriculture community. Leona Dombrowsky, Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), will help officially open the conference. And this year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Patrick Moore, a leader in the international environmental field for over 30 years.
Dr. Moore is well known for revealing the myths and misinformation that distort current environmental debates. He calls for issues to be discussed on the basis of accurate scientific data, a search for consensus and the creation of sustainable solutions.
Moore was a founding member and former president of Greenpeace. He left the organization many years ago and currently is the Chair and Chief Scientist of the environmental consulting firm, Greenspirit Strategies.
An informed, provocative speaker, Dr. Moore's presentations inspire new ways of thinking about environmental challenges. He has played a prominent role in raising environmentalism to the forefront of public concern in Canada and throughout the world.

CONFERENCE AT A GLANCE

The Canadian Greenhouse Conference, with the theme “Just One Thing Could Make All The Difference,” features a two-day trade show offering one-stop shopping for every growing need. It also features pre-conference bus tours with flower and vegetables themes, along with over 15 hours of educational sessions featuring some of the world’s leading researchers, specialists and growers. Among seminar themes are sustainability, energy optimization, crop production, lighting strategies, along with marketing and retailing.
The show features New Varieties and New Products displays, and an opening night reception that’s ideal for networking.
Attendees will also receive free copies of either “Growing Greenhouse Vegetables,” or Production Recommendations for Greenhouse Floriculture,” both published by OMAFRA.
