Wood waste briquets on market
Written by International Biofuel Inc.
newprodwoodwasteInternational Biofuel Inc. has begun marketing 60-mm wood waste briquets. The first units will be sold in B.C. this spring. Sales into Ontario and the Prairies are expected to begin later this year.

Briquets are carbon equal and are a clean-burn choice. They produce approximately 18 gigajoules of heat per metric tonne. They cost less to manufacture than wood pellets. Depending on transportation costs, they sell for about 50 per cent of natural gas rates. They need to be stored dry and will break up in a 6” to 7” feed auger. They are designed for most pellet and moving floor boilers. The photo compares briquets with pellets.
