Sion Orchids teams with Cosmic for North American sales
Sion, one of the world’s leading producers and breeders of phalaenopsis orchids has teamed up with CosMic Plants Inc. for the production and supply of rooted phalaenopsis young plants to the North American market. Sion, one of the world’s leading producers and breeders of phalaenopsis orchids has teamed up with CosMic Plants Inc. for the production and supply of rooted phalaenopsis young plants to the North American market.

Sion is headquartered in De Lier, the Netherlands, while CosMic Plants is in Beamsville, Ontario.

Mike (at right in photo) and Neil van Steekelenburg of CosMic Plants Inc., and Eric Moor (at left in photo) of Sion decided to join each other in their venture to supply the North American market with high-quality, rooted phalaenopsis young plants. The plants will be six months old, and grown in a community tray in a bark mixture. Sion Orchids is supplying CosMic Plants with a pre-selected assortment of the best phalaenopsis varieties available, partly from their own breeding program and partly from other breeders worldwide.

CosMic Plants Inc. is growing these plants in its state-of-the-art greenhouse facility in Beamsville, from flask to the six-month-old plant stage. The first young plants will be available to commercial phalaenopsis growers beginning in January of next year. The program will then operate year-round following this debut.

For more information, call Mike van Steekelenburg at 905-562-9389. Those interested can also check out the websites of the two companies at www.cosmicplants. com and www.sion.eu.
