A special directory in ’08

The 15th annual edition of the Ontario Greenhouse Growers’ Directory and Buyers’ Guide is being dedicated to the memory of Tony Thompson.

Mr. Thompson, a longtime horticultural business consultant with the Niagara Economic Development Corporation, passed away this past summer.

“Tony has been recognized as a stalwart in the greenhouse industry and worked diligently for the past 14 years as
an advocate through the production of the Ontario Greenhouse Growers’ Directory and Buyers’ Guide and other promotional activities on behalf of the Ontario greenhouse industry,” notes NEDC executive director Patrick Gedge.

“In recognition of his contribution to a growing sector in the Ontario agricultural economy, we dedicate this next edition to Tony Thompson.”

Some 7,500 copies of the directory are circulated throughout North America each year. During this transition period, NEDC greenhouse program coordinator Cindy Rose has assumed responsibility for the publication, along with industry liaison. “Many of you will recognize Cindy as a co-worker who has worked actively along with Tony for the past few years on important research projects and promotion and marketing initiatives within the greenhouse sector,” says Gedge. “Future accomplishments through this marketing program will, as always, be dependent upon the active participation of growers and suppliers on projects launched by the Niagara Economic Development Corporation,” says Gedge.  The 2008 directory will be ready early
in the new year.
