August 31, 2015  By Dave Harrison

Aug. 31, 2015, Jordan, Ont. — A team of researchers from the University of Guelph is conducting a commercial field trial combining UV and ozone technologies in an advanced oxidation process for the treatment of recirculating greenhouse irrigation water.

This trial, led by Dr. Mike Dixon, is being conducted at Westland Greenhouses in Jordan. It is supported with equipment and services from ACROBATic Controls, HortiMaX and Nature’s Green Way in partnership with funding from OMAFRA under the New Directions Research Program.

The team is planning an information session at Westland Greenhouses on the afternoon of Oct. 6, which is the day before the Canadian Greenhouse Conference begins in nearby Niagara Falls.
