Road trip: Big Zing is on the move

March 21, 2016, Leamington, Ont. – With a focus on fresh, quality produce, Zing! Healthy Foods is taking their mascot – Big Zing – on a road trip across North America.

“We’re always looking ten steps ahead and trying to find new ways to innovate and stay true to our mission. We want to offer the best produce in the region, and more importantly, we want people to look forward to having it on the menu,” said Jordan Kniaziew, vice-president of sales and marketing.

Those interested can follow #BigZing on social media and watch it journey through Windsor-Essex, up to Toronto, over to Chicago and everywhere in between, reminding us that fresh produce is available all-year round.

The vision for the team is to change people’s perceptions of what it means to eat your veggies – part of that also involves a continued focus on specialty products that hope to bring new flavour and personality to the table.

Whether you’re a foodie who likes to create gourmet dishes at home, or a busy parent looking to send their kids off to school with an easy, healthy snack, this year’s products will provide something for everyone.

“We’ve got something for every home. We have a mission to make fresh, nutritious produce a bigger part of the picture. We want kids to ask mom or dad to pack fresh vegetables in their lunch. We want to change people’s perceptions of how real food can fit into their lives,” said Kniaziew.

Hitting shelves will be a new slate of super sweet mini peppers – labelled Lunchbox Peppers due to their on-the-go convenience – along with their ever-popular specialty pack of red, orange and yellow peppers.

And it doesn’t stop there. Zing! will also be one of the first to-market with their latest batch of Super Sweet Strawberries and European Runner Beans.

With all this, Zing! Healthy Foods is proving that modern farmers can be successful while staying true to their mission. “If you want to contribute quality produce to our communities,” said Kniaziew, “you’ve got to be involved from the farm to the table. Plain and simple.”
